The bar and fireplace inside The Horns

The freehouse

At the bar

Three real ales on tap, a cellar we choose ourselves, good wine, plenty of gin and the sort of conversation that keeps you for another.

Free and independent

A freehouse, and proud of it

The Horns is a true freehouse, which means no brewery tells us what to pour. Every cask, keg and bottle behind the bar is there because we chose it, tasted it and think it deserves a place.

That freedom is the quiet luxury of a village pub like this. The range changes with the seasons and with what our regulars enjoy, so there is always a reason to ask what is new on the bar.

Three real ales, kept properly

We keep three real ales on tap, looked after the traditional way and poured with care. Alongside them you will find draught and bottled lagers, ciders and a full range of spirits, including plenty of gin.

If you are not sure where to start, just ask. The team are happy to talk you through the pumps and pour a taster before you commit to a pint.

Wine and spirits

More than a pint pub

Wine lovers are well looked after, with a comprehensive list by the glass and the bottle, from easy drinking house pours to something worth lingering over. The gin shelf is generous, and the spirits range covers the classics and a few favourites besides.

Whether it is a glass of red by the fire in winter or a gin and tonic in the garden in summer, there is a seat and a drink here with your name on it.

Stay for another

Make an evening of it

The best nights at The Horns are the unhurried ones. Settle in by the fire, work your way along the bar and let the evening take care of itself.

There is a car park outside if someone is driving, and if nobody wants to be the one, we are happy to call you a taxi. That is what a village local is for.

Drinks questions, answered

What real ales does The Horns serve?

As a freehouse we keep three real ales on tap, and the selection changes. Ask the team what is on the pumps when you visit.

Does The Horns serve wine by the glass?

Yes. Our wine list includes whites, roses and reds available by the glass and by the bottle, alongside Prosecco for celebrations.

Does The Horns serve gin and cocktails?

We stock a full range of spirits including a generous gin selection, poured at a proper village bar. Ask the team for the current favourites.

What does freehouse mean?

A freehouse is a pub that is not tied to a brewery, so it can choose which beers and drinks to sell. At The Horns that freedom means a changing, carefully chosen range rather than a fixed national list.
